So the guesthouse that I keep mentioning is Morning Coffee Guesthouse. It is run by one of the most amazing couples you will ever meet, Birtukan and Nesibu. They use the guesthouse to help support their ministry Yezelalem Minch (everlasting spring). Birtukan was a sponsor child with World Vision growing up. When she was older she worked with World Vision in her neighborhood. One day she received a letter for a child from their sponsor stating that the sponsor "was crippled and had little money, but it was still his pleasure to help this child because he had great love for them. " This letter changed her life. If this man who was crippled and poor could make a difference how much more could she? She prayed and asked God to help her mother children who needed a mother. She started with five children from her neighborhood and now her ministry feeds and cares for 1000 children! I have a documentary that Birtukan gave us about the ministry. If anyone wants a copy let me know. It is a MUST SEE! The web address is, http://www.yezelalemminch.org/.
So now back to Saturday. On Saturday we had the privilege to visit this ministry and help pass out food. This was an awesome experience for our entire family. I was so blessed watching my boys experience their first missions outreach. The entire trip renewed a passion in David and I for missions and ignited it for our boys. They handled the traveling so amazingly that I would have no problem traveling the world with them.
After the feeding program Birtukan and Nesibu invited us to their home for lunch and their daughter's birthday party. It was a huge honor to have been invited to their home and to share in such a special time with their family. It felt like the perfect end to a wonderful week spent with them. After the party we grabbed our luggage and left for the airport for our long journey home.
It was an amazing trip, one our family will never forget!
